Welcome Providers

AIA CES is excited to offer this blog as another way for providers to access information about AIA CES.

Most of you should have received your invoices for the 2007 renewal period. You need to renew in order to continue offering AIA/CES activities for 2007.

What is the one burning question you have about being a Provider? Here is a forum for you to share ideas with your colleagues. Have a suggestions/comment? Please feel free, share!

Jill:

As a Provider, do you have to join different AIA Chapters to be able to provide the CES or how do you go about providing your CES to Chapters?

Thanks!

Once you have registered to become an AIA/CES Provider you are in the provider system. The level of your registration determines the type of provider you are and the localities in which you may offer activities. There are a couple of AIA chapters who model the AIA/CES system, they are independant from AIA/CES. As an AIA/CES Provider you are not required to join AIA Chapters. To offer AIA/CES activities to chapters you would approach the chapter. Many of the chapters are also AIA/CES Providers who also offer AIA/CES activities. More than one provider may come together to offer educational activities however, one must take the lead with regards to the administrative functions of being a provider.

As a Provider, why can't I rent the mailing lsits from each CXhapter. What is the advantage of paying to be a Provider if I can't promote by seminar?

Please advise...

The decision of AIA Chapters to rent member mailing list is an individual choice by each chapter. I would imagaine that it would be advantageous for the Chapters to work something out with Providers, it could possibly benefit the Chapters as well as the members. As an AIA/CES Provider you can purchase an AIA member mailing list in order to promote your AIA/CES educational activities. If you would like additional information, please contact me via email and I can give you the specifics.

I thought I had read that AICP would take AIA credits for their new CM program. Does anyone know how to inform AICP or is it up to the individual?

Maria Sigillito:

If you are talking about the American Planning Association, you would need to speak with them directly about their continuing education requirements. http://www.planning.org/aicp/ AIPC or the APA are not registered AIA CES providers of education.
