I was amazed at the placement (72) on the list of this superb building. Imagine placing Bellagio and the Sears Tower (to name only two) before the Flatiron Building. In a world that can't get enough of Paris Hilton, Brittany Spears and K-Fed, no wonder at the low placement of this landmark structure by one of the top architects of his day. Given this turn, I was surprised not to see the McDonalds arches.

I couldn't agree more Alex. I guess I'll take down my 6'x6' picture of this building I have in my apartment and replace it with a picture of the local McDonalds. I've been to the Belligio, it's ain't all that.

This building could have been in the top five and I wouldn't have blinked an eye. 72 is ridiculous.

#72?? C'mon AIA...What's all this then? It's time to start screening these "voters"...The Flatiron is a very special and exceptional building, perfectly situated, offering such exquisite views...just take a look at Edward Steichen's moody photographs, among others. I'm still trying to figure out that "erector-set" pile jammed on top of The Hearst Building up on W.57St.
PS...I'd love to read a comment from "Olive Thomas" on this...O.T. rocks!

I can't believe it! Did someone get the wrong numbers for the "American Idol" voter hotline? #72 for this amazing piece of architectural beauty, Daniel Burnham was robbed! I recently moved to Arizona from NY and the first picture to adorn my walls is the one captured above. Thankfully, the traffic light was Photoshopped out.
