Lincoln Center is the largest performing arts complex in the word, housing 12 different arts organizations. Many architects have contributed buildings to the complex: Wallace K. Harrison, Metropolitan Opera House; Max Abramovitz, Avery Fisher Hall; Philip Johnson, New York State Theater; Pietro Belluschi, Juilliard School and Alice Tully Hall; and Eero Saarinen, Vivian Beaumont Theater.

The best that can be said about this is that they were able to film the movie West Side Story amongst the buildings vacated but not yet demolished for this project.

Otherwise this is pretty much lacklustre crap.

Perfect example of post-war anxiety about modernism. It was no longer enough for architecture to express itself honestly. We had to try to bend it to express oppulence and grandeur, but all we got instead was tackiness and pomposity. The staircase in the Met is very sleek though. I'd put it on America's 150 favorite staircases.
