      <![CDATA[<font face="Calibri" size="2">During the AIA National Convention and Design Expo in New Orleans, the National Associates Committee (NAC) elected Wayne Mortensen as the 2012 NAC Chair. <br /></font><p><font face="Calibri" size="2">Mortensen currently serves as the NAC Advocacy Director and previously served as the 2003 &ndash; 2004 President of the American Institute of Architecture Students. He holds Masters in Architecture, Urban Design, and Social Work from Washington University. His passion is the exploration of built environments that facilitate the creation of bridging social capitol and civic engagement. His professional aspirations are distinctly &ldquo;alternative&rdquo; and include teaching, research and socially-oriented practice.</font></p><p><font face="Calibri" size="2">Matthew Hart, April Trojniak, and Patrick Weber were elected as directors-at-large. Hart, the 2011 &ndash; 2012 South Atlantic Regional Associate Director, has been with IPG Architects in Valdosta, Georgia since 2005. He is currently engaged in the firm&rsquo;s Education Studio and is project manager for the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia, The Technical College System of Georgia, and K-12 projects. Weber, the 2010-2011 Gulf States Regional Associate Director, has been in the Nashville office of Looney Ricks Kiss Architects for the past four years. He also serves as on the AIA Middle Tennessee Board of Directors as an Associate Director, assisting with the Emerging Professionals and Programs committees. Trojniak currently serves as the Central States Regional Associate Director.</font></p><font face="Calibri" size="2">Mortensen, Hart, Trojniak, and Weber will join 2011 NAC Chair Ashley Clark and 2011 Associate Director William Turner to round out the 2012 NAC Executive Board.<br /></font>]]>

This annual report shares the accreditation decisions made by the NAAB in the previous year, provides a review of the aggregated statistics provided by each accredited program, and reports on other activities. The report is available at www.naab.org. </font></font><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><p>The decisions represented in this report were all made on the basis of visits completed in 2010; these decisions were all effective January 1, 2010. There were 39 accreditation actions, two candidacy application reviews, and six focused evaluations in 2010 involving 145 volunteers. </p><p>The data summaries are based on information submitted in the fall of 2010 through the NAAB&rsquo;s Annual Report Submission (ARS) system. </p><p>In announcing the release, NAAB President Kin DuBois, FAIA, said, &quot;I hope you agree this report serves as a valuable communications tool that will prove useful to schools of architecture, accredited programs, and the profession.&quot; </p></font></font><em><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2">About NAAB: </font></font></em><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2">The mission of the NAAB is leadership in, and the establishment of, educational quality assurance standards to enhance the value, relevance, and effectiveness of the architectural profession. </font></font><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><font face="Arial,Arial" size="2"><p>The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture in the United States. This unfortunate disaster cries out for a swift response to help alleviate the suffering and salvage the remaining fabric of families, friends, and loved ones. </font></p><p><font face="tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="3">We encourage you to do what you can as a generous contributor to organizations best able to provide the immediate assistance the Japanese people need in the aftermath of destruction. Please review the list of organizations included with this message. </font></p><p><font face="tahoma,arial,helvetica,sans-serif" size="3">Also, as a profession, we know that once the humanitarian relief efforts are stabilized, the next phase of rebuilding begins.
