AIA Contract Documents is offering, to the first five PC and MAC users, a complimentary trial for selection of most popular 16 documents on demand. You must be able to perform the trial October 5-12. The first 10 users (5 for PC and 5 for MAC users) will be selected. Just send an e-mail to smallfirms@aia.org and mark the subject line “documents on demand trial offer.” Indicate in the e-mail if you use a PC or MAC.

Thank you for the heads-up! Thanks to your blog I was able to participate. It turned out to only be a 5-day trial but fortunately I had to write a contract that week so I tried the small projects B105. These on-demand contracts significantly limit what you can do to the contract and I gave them a lot of feedback about that. For example, it will not allow you to cross out language (not even if you have the full version of adobe). You then have to either cross out and initial by hand or you have to write in Article 7 those that do not apply. It is confusing to clients if you do the later. Hopefully they will make these documents more usable. Also I noted to them that they are really expensive compared to buying a paper copy (which is the least fun to write contracts!). I suggested they make them more affordable and appealing to the masses and instead of making 5 million in sales to 5% of architects they make 5 million in sales to 20+% of architects (I'm making up figures here as an example).
